My Chemical Romance for Reading Fesitval 2008

December 6, 2007 Filed Under Rumour

My Chemical Romance have been rumoured for Reading Festival 2008.Did you know that the band was formed only a week after September the 11th. Front man Gerard Way’s life was so influenced by the attacks that he wanted to make a band!

At the moment there is nothing on their official website about them playing at Leeds.

I’m not keen on them either, but if they do play i’m sure there will be another band on at the same time :)

I only hope they play if there is to be a repeat of 2006.
IE: golf balls, bottles and other projectiles.
Perhaps a frisbee made of concrete will suffice.. hmmm..

If you don’t like a band, why bother going just to throw stuff at them?? Just don’t go and watch them, simple. There are people who want to go and watch them but can’t because their place is taken by someone like you.

And it’s the great bands like MCR who polarise opinion. It’s a shame people are so ignorant as to stereotype their fans as obese 13 year old girls who self-harm.

I really hope they are playing there this year.

In the event they do play, they’ll need to do Saturday as it looks like Rage and Metallica have got Friday and Sunday respectively. If they put them on before either of those two, they will get murdered.

In no way should they play. They got where they are, not through talent, but via marketing.

They have no passion to their music. They are not established. There are plenty more established acts, with a greater backlog that would appeal to a wider and more mature audience.

The crowd at Download/Reading/Leeds was pathetic. Small. Young. Narrow minded. Pathetic. Before any teen MySpace kids start to complain - don’t bother. I win.

I’m not a kid. I’m a 49 years old guy who has seen gigs over the last 30+ years and the likes of Pink Floyd, Queen, Bowie to name a few. I couldn’t disagree more with rockgeeks comments about MCR. Not only do they seem passionate about their music but on their day they are a serious live band and their performance at the O2 arena was one of the best i’ve ever seen by anyone.

People up to a certain age seem to either love them or hate them. I suspect many of the haters dislike them because it’s the thing to do without really knowing what they are about. They are getting an increasingly older following amongst those that listened to rock in the ’70’s though and the average age at gigs has gone up a long way over this last tour.

I love this band, and i saw them reading 2006 which was ruined by people who are stupid enough to come and see them when they hate them…hate them- fair enough, i hate some bands sound, but dont bother coming to see them, they have changed so many peoples lives and they are good people so dont try to throw stuff at good people, fair enough if they wern’t….i loved them at reading, gerard put up a fight- amazing.so if you dont like them, it shows how cool u are that u bother waching them to shout and throw stuff..get a life, is there NOTHING else to do at Reading fesival…??

I wouldn’t like them to play. I think if they did the place would be absolutely packed full of kids on the day they would be playing. I may be stereotyping but the majority of people who listen to that band are emo kids.

But if they do play, I’m sure I’ll get over it, and though I don’t like the band, I certainly wouldn’t bottle them. Just because I think they suck doesn’t mean I should spoil everyone elses’ fun. :)

Well, I live in Calfornia. I LOVE this band and I am 57! I saw MCR a faew weeks ago at a show here in California. This band is so passionate about their music, their fans, the world and LIFE itself. I don’t know why the promoters nor the police did not stop these hooligans. Such a shame.
