January 7, 2008 Filed Under Rumour

Rage Against the Machine // Reading Festival 2008At the moment I am currently getting a lot of information from a very reliable source and they seem to think that the headliners for Reading Festival 2008 are pretty much already confirmed! Here is what are source is saying at the moment.

  • Rage Against The Machine
  • Kasabian
  • The Verve

(None of the nights are confirmed here)

Lets see how things pan out over the next few months leading up to the festival.

    “…and they seem to think…”

So no confirmation yet. Just the same rumours other sites have had for months?

well a person from inside Festival Republic is a pretty solid bet, and probably a little more accurate than the sources other sites are using at the moment. Anyway i thought we were friends strictly reading? :(

usually the same day as the tickets go on sale, so not for a while yet. There is a chance that it could be Metallica instead of the Verve though.

    January 22nd, 2008 2:30 pm

Mna that sucks, Ok the verve were ok back in 1997, but 2008! don’t think so. Rage against machine ?? wtf!!! put them in a tent out the way!!

    February 6th, 2008 2:47 pm

Didn’t Melvin Ben(Mean Fiddler’s director of festivals) Say that all the headliners are American ?

    bob
    February 6th, 2008 2:52 pm

still verve n kasabian may b there, but not headlining.

    admin
    February 7th, 2008 7:16 am

    Line up rumored to be:
    FRI- Killers
    SAT-RATM
    SUN-Metallica
Still not sure about Killers but other two seem highly likely (source wikipedia)

    February 8th, 2008 8:35 am

    This is rubbish!

There will be three AMERICAN headliners for Reading this year and The Verve are headlining at Galsto anyway

    admin
    February 9th, 2008 9:07 am

It wasn’t rubbish at the time but now yes, obviously things have changed and now the Verve are headlining Glastonbury. Melvin Benn (i think thats his name) also announced that all the headliners will be American too yes, that is correct and that has been covered here on the site :)

    Thanks for the comment!!

sooo rumours are it is between rage, who are pretty much confirmed i think, metallica, green day, foo fighters, weezer, the strokes, r.e.m etc etc. personally, if they go heavy and have rage and metallica, or foos even, they need green day, or more likely gamble on the strokes, bit of indie. good mix, strokes headlined 2002, and were brill. come on!

    alex
    February 13th, 2008 2:55 pm

Verve are headlining V, so i doubt that will happen personally, but rage? That would be amazing, and Kasabian, that would be the WORST thing ever, as they are shit.
My predictions, based on the normal (indie, rock, old school)
    Blur
    Feeder
    Rage

    jon
    February 15th, 2008 11:17 am

All The headliner are america, look wot bob and admin sayin about melvin Benn

    Ed
    February 15th, 2008 1:58 pm

Graham Coxon has confirmed Blur won’t be reforming which sucks cos that would have been well good.
I’ve also heard the rumour that all 3 headliners will be American bands so let’s hope for Rage. Even though they’re now confirmed for T in the Park I think it’s still quite likely.

    February 15th, 2008 4:18 pm

everyone jus knows that this is to good to be true. . .:(

    harri
    February 16th, 2008 5:03 am

    ratm would be aweeeesome!
get metallica to play, we dont want too much indie!
metallica and rage would be amazzzziiiinggggg!

    admin
    February 16th, 2008 6:42 am

the verve have announced they are headlining glastonbury and Melvin Benn from festival republic has said all the bands will be American too! so there is a good chance that it will be Metallica now i reckon

    Thanks for the comment :)

    Pedro
    February 19th, 2008 3:33 am

Now Rage against the Machine have been confirmed as headlining T in the park is there still a chance they’ll play Leeds/Reading? I know some festivals make their headliners agree to not headline any other festivals…

    devils_princess
    February 19th, 2008 5:06 am

Metallica would be awesome alongside RATM!
Chuck abit of GreenDay in there maybe with the foos aswell and you got yourself an amazing line up!!aint gonna happen though is it? :(

    Dave
    February 21st, 2008 3:38 pm

I pray to god that T in the Park promoters have MADE rage against machine PROMISE that they wont headline reading, anyone can scream and shout. Hope Foo Fighters headline, glad the Verve aint, like i said b4 they were ok in 97, this is 08! and they werent that good in the first place to have this kinda longivity (sorry if spelt wrong) M,y chemical romance are ok but not quite headliners, vevlvet revolver would be good.

    February 21st, 2008 4:08 pm

maybe its just wishful thinking :)

    joe
    February 24th, 2008 7:06 am

    joe
    February 24th, 2008 11:36 am

that clearly didnt work. sorry, bit clearer

    Saturday: Linkin Park, Kasabian, Stereophonics

    Chris
    February 25th, 2008 8:54 am

Wont’ be Kasabian, they’ve announced that its 3 American bands headlining this year.
I reckon it will be Rage, Kings of Leon (even though they are headlining Glasto which puts a bit of doubt on them) and Metallica

    admin
    February 25th, 2008 4:15 pm

yeah i’ve posted about that as well! I don’t think it will be KOL with them headlining Glastonbury.

    Thanks for the comment!

    March 12th, 2008 5:43 pm

no way the pixies will headline, as they did a couple of years ago. im thinking:

    Philip
    March 15th, 2008 6:55 am

if metallica play it will definetly be on the sunday, because it is primarily known as a day for hard rock and metal. perfect line up would be greenday, ratm, metallica, but it will most likely be killers

    admin
    March 15th, 2008 7:22 am

AC, thanks for the comment. Thats the only information i could find as well when i looked on their website. I have no idea who is going to play. we are not really any closer than we were 3 months a go.

At the moment i’ve not been updating the site enough either. I have a 3 week break over easter so be prepared for some improvements! :)

    March 20th, 2008 11:11 am

Slipknot have already played Reading so why is that unlikely?

RATM is a great idea, they were brilliant last time, Foo’s are always awesome and they love playing Reading, Green Day will be good if they are allowed to play at a decent volume this time!!

    QOTSA Kick arse
