10 Top Tips for Ticket Sale Day
Ticket sale day is going to be mental this year. The popularity of Reading Festival increases every year, making it harder and harder to get tickets.
The best I can do is offer you these 10 top tips for the day (31st March 2008.) I hope they help.
If you have any more please leave a comment!
1. Make sure you definitely want to go - i know it sounds stupid, but just make sure you definitely want to go. Check the line-up here. Its a lot of money and someone could have had your ticket that really does want to go.
2. Make sure you have enough money - I’ve seen this actually happen. Just make sure you have enough money in your account, and make sure the site you use accepts your card. You might have to kindly ask your parents to borrow theirs.
3. Bookmark sites that are selling tickets - This is a good idea. Bookmark as many sites as you can on the 30th of March that you know are selling Reading Festival tickets. This way you can quickly browse through them, quicker than other web users.
4. Get your mates to buy more than one ticket - The less people that actually have to buy tickets, the less strain there is on the websites selling them. 300 people buying three tickets is much better than 900 people all trying to get one. Try and club together with your mates and help everyone get a ticket!
5. Don’t give up on sites - Sometimes sites won’t load the first time you go on them because of the huge strain on their servers. Hundreds and thousands of people are trying to access the same page as you at the same time. Hit F5 to refresh a page and Ctrl + F5 for a more powerful refresh.
6. Check the line-up here - Make sure there are plenty of bands that you want to see by checking the line-up on this site before you buy. You may want to bookmark the page.
7. Don’t buy from eBay - Whatever you do, do not panic buy a ticket from eBay. They will be stupidly overpriced. There are much better alternatives if you couldn’t get hold of a ticket straight away.
8. Get the ticket sites phone numbers too. - Many people think that the internet is the best way to get tickets now, but most have fogotten that the phone will do the same job. So while everyone is off pulling their hair out over a site not loading, you could be making the important call…
9. Get there fast - Don’t think that tickets won’t sell out on the first day of sale. Believe me they will!
10. Last Resorts - Reading Festival forums and websites offer great places to find a ticket if you didn’t get one. Try visiting here and forums.readingfestival.com if you can’t get hold of one.
I hope this list helps. If you have any more good advise please leave a comment!

If You Fail to get a ticket a last chance option would be to go to gumtree.com usually after about a month or two once the tickets go on sale people decide that they cant’t go etc and they sell for a pretty good price my mate got one for £165 last year, ebay were selling them for £210 on ebay

Don’t panic if you can’t get a weekend ticket, it doesn’t mean you can’t go at all. The single day tickets don’t go so quickly, so once you’ve seen the line up, choose your favourite day. Not guaranteed to be the same this year, but I got a Sat & Friday ticket some time after the tickets went on sale last year. I also saw people getting a Sunday ticket on the door, on the day, no queue at all!!

i kind of have to agree with readingrockness here, and thats what I am going to do this year. I just can’t afford the full day ticket.
James, I used one last year, but literally found out about it at the time!

Anyone know when the lineup will be revealed? Surely before the tickets go on sale right?
