I’d also add Weezer and Green day to that list with a possible appearance from Slipknot adn Avenged Sevenfold!

I think Oasis might head for Glasto

no way would AC/DC play reading. think about it they did a sick set at donnington in ‘92 so why go to reading which is turning indie when they can do another set at a festival which gave them a higher status. also AC/DC would have the old school fans aswell as the younger generation whereas at reading the crowd would only be half as big as that as dowload due to tickets going so quickly

I don’t see why AC/DC couldn’t play both festivals? Also other bands like this have played in the past such as Iron Maiden. I see what you mean about the crowd being a little unsuited, but I think after this year, reading..if anything has become more eclectic.

cheers for the comment though, i guess it will be interesting to find out who is playing in the future :)

I think Green Day and Weezer should be added to the list. Also The Strokes should be added as they reportedly will be coming back at the beginning of 2009.

RATM, Muse, Metallica, Iron Maiden, NIN, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Pixies… AC/DC could easily headline Reading Festival.

Lucas from your comments above you clearly don’t know what your on about as if Reading was turning more indie then whay have Queens and RATM friday night and all heavy bar feeder on sunday this year! I’d say that it was more geared for rockers this year as AC/DC have said that they won’t play Download this year and thats it so if you can think of another festival which would suit them then please tell us!
    Friday Green Day
    Sat Oasis
sun All heavy and AC/DC at the top
For the past 3 years I have managed to guess each years headliners previously at the reading festival a year before! Iknow its not that hard to guess but you never know!
All those people who want Franz Ferdinand they were poor last time! Wombats, pidgeon detectives, one night only and scouting for girls (these are the main 4 with most new band writing some really bad music!) can only write songs where there clearly is not enough imagination on lyrics as they all seem to repeat the chorus 3 times or as if there really crap poets and need to make lyrics rhyme! When is the next GnR as the new millenium has not found a slash, angus, kirk etc!

thanks a lot for the detailed post, I really do think AC/DC will be there, I wouldn’t be too bothered about seeing Greenday as I think they would mainly play their older crappy stuff. Oasis would also be really cool to watch, they have songs just made for festival crowds and their new album seems to have taken them back to their raw roots, however it also seems a little more creative.

Its going to be an interesting line-up for Reading Festival 2009 thats for sure!

Strokes would be a beast. I would like to hear mainly stuff off their first album though and I reckon that would be pretty unlikely.

    cheers for the comment

iv heard that Greenday may be headlining, but didnt they change their name so they could play in smaller venues again? hopefully oasis wont play because i cant see their music going down to well at reading. i went to reading 2008 and as slipknot and A7X dropped out they may play. i wonder if the foo fighters may make an appearance?

hmm yeah, there is some talk of the foo fighters playing around the net, i personally would like to see Oasis play, and I think some of their older songs would be perfect for the festival atmosphere.

thanks a lot for the comment!

loads of metallica posters around at 07, and loads of AC/DC this year so i would guess AC/DC, hope so anyway. Lostprohets did download and got new stuff coming out early next year so seems more than possible. I hope not oasis but if there not doin glasto i think they’ll end up at reading. Avenged 7X need to after what happened this year, and i would guess slipknot would aswell. Green day must be due a slot?and arctic monkeys? KOL as they were amazin at glasto and rele shoulld have headlined above razorshite at 07? Fall out boy have new album soon so i would expect them to appear somewhere lower down the list. The enemy have said reading/leeds is there top festival and i thought they were amazing this year so could be seeeing them again, same with biffy. Funeral for a friend have a good new album out so i would guess they’ll be around. Liked the inclsusion of an entertaing band (tenacious d) this year so would be good to see again, not anyone that does as good though is there? Seriously though with how big reading/leeds are now any band could be appearing so everything above is probably bullshit, more what i want then i expect! Anyway just hope they don’t take a hip hop turn after the support dizee rascal got given this year! Can’t wait for next year whatever happens!
    WOW long post!

    Hey guys,

Guns and Roses have a new album out soon right? Is there a reason why none of you have suggested them for the sunday yet? I would prefer them than AC/DC, post me back!

thanks for that long post pete!

Paul, yeah good point i’ve not actually thought about them. I think AC/DC are looking a little more likely at the moment though, and i can’t see both AC/DC and Guns and Roses playing, that would be a bit too much rock i reckon!

    cheers for the comment

are guns’n'roses keeping there original line up?Becuase didn’t they say they weren’t gunna play the weekend again because of the abuse they got turning up late last time? I thought that was why the velvet revolver rumour never developed last year?
Does anyone know the +44 situation after they cancelled 2 years ago? Because I read a guarantee on there website they would return when there new stuff was recorded|?

Ant - apparently bloc party said at the end of their Leeds set “Goodbye Leeds, you won’t see us for a while” so i think they look pretty unlikely.

pete - i don’t know the answers to either of those questions sorry, but i will try and look into it

AC/DC, Green Day (highly likely) , Foo Fighters(definately not they’re taking a long break), Oasis, KOL, Blink 182 (yes They are all talking at the moment), guns n roses, the strokes (recording next year) ,arctic monkeys (higly likely). These could all headline. For thr rest of the line up could be about anyone, slipknot could definately be there (prob not headline) as they pulled out this year.

Hi there, I wish The Killers to take part as they are making a huge success with the Day & Age album, Feeder is another band I would like to see.
