Beware! Hoax Reading Competition On Myspace
If you are in an unsigned band and have been looking at playing at Reading Festival then beware! The Official Reading Festival team have uncovered a hoax myspace profile calling itself “Festival Unlocked.”
They claim to be running a competition for unsigned bands to play at Reading Festival 2008, but this is not true!
The site has no link with the festival and none of the bands will be on the bill via this site.

Recycling Could Get You To Reading Festival!
If you missed out on a ticket or didn’t get a stewarding post at this years Reading Festival, fear not! The official Reading Festival website has just announced that you can join their very own recycling team.
You will be at recycling points around the festival, in the campgrounds showing people which bin to put their recycling in.
To apply to be a recycling volunteer you must:
- Be 18 or over.
- Be available to arrive at the Festival site by 7pm Wednesday 20th August 2008.
- Provide a refundable deposit of £185 by 30th May (details will be emailed to you)
If you want to take part you need to E-mail “greenmessenger@festivalrepublic.com” with the Subject Heading: Team Recycle Reading Festival.
You must Included the following information in the E-mail:

Blog Theme Changes Again
I would like to apologize for changing the theme around a lot recently. I appreciate that it might be confusing! I am trying to make Readingfesty the number one place for reading festival information, and that means making it user friendly. I felt that the last theme was not achieving this.

Useful Late Night Entertainment News
Reading will once again be providing a large amount of late night entertainment for after the live music finishes.
The Silent Disco is to return again and will run until 3am on the nights that the main areana is open. However the location of it has not yet been decided.
The Cinema Tent and The Alternative Tent will again be at Reading Festival. Each running until 3am and 4am respectively. They will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
The funfair will also return this year.
Robots in Disguise Confirm Reading Festival
Robots in Disguise have confirmed themselves for Reading Festival on their Myspace page.
Like Digitalism, they have also announced that they will be performing on the 24th of August.
Interestingly they have put “Dance stage” for their Leeds Festival slot, but not for their Reading slot, so i don’t know what stage they will be playing on.
I assume it will be the dance stage though.

In other news, The Killers have also announced that they will be on tour in the UK around the time of Leeds Festival. They recently confirmed a gig on the 21st of August in Dublin. This could make their appearance a little more likelyl. Credit to our reader Ben for this information.
Dizzee Rascal also recently revealed in a youtube video (uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nBqp1F7XOWI) that he “should be doing Reading and Leeds” (check it out at 3:55)
Greenday Not Yet Confirmed!
A few people have been E-mailing me to tell me that Greenday have confirmed their Leeds Festival slot, but when looking at their tour dates the information is way out of date.
At the moment, Greenday are not confirmed!
However this does not mean that I don’t think they will play. They have been rumoured by various websites.
I hope that clears up some confusion for some people!
