Blur Will Not Hit Reading Festival Weekend
After the surprise announcement of their reformation, Blur have been considered for all sorts of festivals, including the Reading Festival weekend. We however believe that they will not be making an appearance at it.
The main reason for this assumption is that there has already been strong links with the band and a Glastonbury headlining slot.
Blur’s new album, which is set to be release next year, will see the full return of the legendary guitarist Graham Coxon, who only feature one one track from their last release ‘Think Tank.’
We still remain open minded about this, but at the moment it looks very unlikely so don’t get your hopes up!
Beware! Hoax Reading Competition On Myspace
If you are in an unsigned band and have been looking at playing at Reading Festival then beware! The Official Reading Festival team have uncovered a hoax myspace profile calling itself “Festival Unlocked.”
They claim to be running a competition for unsigned bands to play at Reading Festival 2008, but this is not true!
The site has no link with the festival and none of the bands will be on the bill via this site.

Recycling Could Get You To Reading Festival!
If you missed out on a ticket or didn’t get a stewarding post at this years Reading Festival, fear not! The official Reading Festival website has just announced that you can join their very own recycling team.
You will be at recycling points around the festival, in the campgrounds showing people which bin to put their recycling in.
To apply to be a recycling volunteer you must:
- Be 18 or over.
- Be available to arrive at the Festival site by 7pm Wednesday 20th August 2008.
- Provide a refundable deposit of £185 by 30th May (details will be emailed to you)

Useful Late Night Entertainment News
Reading will once again be providing a large amount of late night entertainment for after the live music finishes.
The Silent Disco is to return again and will run until 3am on the nights that the main areana is open. However the location of it has not yet been decided.
The Cinema Tent and The Alternative Tent will again be at Reading Festival. Each running until 3am and 4am respectively. They will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
The funfair will also return this year.
Simian Mobile Disco To Play Reading Festival
Simian Mobile Disco are another Electronic band that have recently confirmed themselves for Reading Festival 2008.
The band have announced the slot on both their Myspace profile and their official website.
They will play on the 24th of August as well.
Although the band by definition are electronic, their Myspace profile says that they will be playing live.
Robots in Disguise Confirm Reading Festival
Robots in Disguise have confirmed themselves for Reading Festival on their Myspace page.
Like Digitalism, they have also announced that they will be performing on the 24th of August.
Interestingly they have put “Dance stage” for their Leeds Festival slot, but not for their Reading slot, so i don’t know what stage they will be playing on.
I assume it will be the dance stage though.

Digitalsim Confirm Reading Festival Slot
Digitalism are the first in a wave of electronic acts, to confirm themselves for Reading Festival 2008.
The band announced the slot on their Myspace page.
They will be performing on the 24th of August and I assume they will be on the dance stage.
